All services are provided in accordance with applicable nursing standards, guidelines, and scope of practice in Alberta. Registered Nurses are accountable to practise safely, competently, and ethically within their individual scope and level of competence.
Jenn Taylor’s lactation practice is also guided by the professional standards and Code of Professional Conduct set by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners.
Scope of Services
Services provided are limited to:
Lactation support.
Education.
Nursing assessment within scope.
Jenn Taylor does not diagnose medical conditions or provide medical treatment.
While she is trained to assess feeding and identify potential concerns, such as a restricted frenulum (tongue tie) that may impact feeding function, formal diagnosis and medical management must be completed by an appropriately qualified healthcare provider.
Jenn Taylor practises in a collaborative manner and may recommend referral to other regulated healthcare professionals when appropriate. Jenn Taylor is not responsible for the care, treatment, advice, or services provided by other healthcare providers.
Relationship to Primary Care
Lactation services do not replace the role of a primary care provider. Under no circumstances should Jenn Taylor be considered the primary care provider for a parent or infant.
Clients are encouraged to maintain ongoing care with their:
Physician.
Nurse practitioner.
Pediatric provider.
Other appropriate qualified healthcare provider.
