What To Expect

Empty hospital room with a patient bed, two chairs, a small mirror, and wall shelves with a plant, all with soft lighting.
A stethoscope with pink tubing lying on a wooden desk next to a laptop.
A nursing pillow with a brown and white zigzag pattern on a bed, with a white brick wall and white headboard in the background.

Your Initial Appointment with Baby

You’ll be welcomed into a quiet, comfortable, and private space where you can relax and focus on your baby. Appointments are up to 90 minutes, so there is plenty of time and no need to feel rushed.

We’ll begin by reviewing your intake form and discussing your feeding goals—what’s working well and where you may need support.

Feeding Assessment

Your baby will be weighed to assess growth. If helpful, we may do a second weight after a feed to better understand milk intake.

I will observe a feeding and offer gentle, practical guidance:

  • Breastfeeding: support with latch, positioning, comfort, and milk transfer

  • Bottle feeding: guidance to improve comfort and effectiveness, based on NICU experience

Personalized Care Plan

Within 24 hours, you’ll receive a customized care plan tailored to you and your baby, with clear next steps. You’re always welcome to reach out with questions after your visit.

Collaborative Care

If needed, I may recommend other providers (such as physiotherapy, chiropractic, speech-language pathology, or dental care). With your permission, I’m also happy to communicate with your physician or midwife.

Follow-Up

Follow-up appointments may be recommended depending on your needs.
